Alfred is built with privacy at its core. Alfred uses only Apple's own frameworks for AI processing — Apple Intelligence and Apple's Speech framework. No data is sent to third-party AI services such as OpenAI or Google. When AI features are enabled, your data may be processed by Apple via on-device processing or Apple's Private Cloud Compute with end-to-end encryption.
Alfred ("the App") is an AI-powered personal assistant for iOS that records conversations, transcribes speech, and extracts actionable insights. This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles your information.
The App is developed and maintained by an independent developer ("we", "us", "our"). By using Alfred, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
We want to be clear about what we do not do:
Alfred uses Apple's frameworks for AI features. Before any AI processing occurs, the App requests your explicit consent through a dedicated AI Data Processing consent screen. You can enable or disable AI data processing at any time from Settings.
When AI features are enabled, your transcribed text and chat messages are processed by Apple Intelligence to generate summaries, extract action items, categorize sessions, and provide chat responses. Apple Intelligence may process data in two ways:
Audio is transcribed to text using Apple's Speech Recognition framework. When on-device speech recognition is available, transcription happens locally. When on-device recognition is not available for the selected language, audio may be sent to Apple's speech recognition servers for processing.
The App uses a bundled machine learning model (FluidAudio, based on pyannote) to distinguish between different speakers in a conversation. This model runs entirely on your device with no network communication.
The following data is always processed and stored locally on your device:
When you start a listening session, the App records audio through your device's microphone. Audio files are stored locally in the App's sandboxed storage.
All transcripts, extracted action items, decisions, and summaries are stored locally in an encrypted database on your device.
Conversations with the in-app AI assistant are stored locally on your device.
Alfred implements an explicit consent flow for AI data processing:
All locally stored data is protected with the following security measures:
Alfred requests the following device permissions, each requiring your explicit consent:
When you choose to sync an action item to iOS Reminders or Calendar, the relevant data (title, description, date) is written to those apps via Apple's EventKit framework. This data then follows the privacy settings of your Reminders and Calendar apps, including any iCloud sync you may have enabled at the system level. Alfred itself does not initiate any cloud synchronization.
You have full control over your data:
Alfred is available as a one-time purchase ($1.99) through the Apple App Store. All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple. We do not collect, store, or have access to any payment information, credit card details, or Apple ID data. For information about how Apple handles your purchase data, please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy.
Alfred is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
Alfred does not integrate with any third-party AI services, analytics platforms, or advertising networks. The only frameworks used are:
